At VPLS Solutions, my time is split around 20/80 between pre-sales and post-sales engineering. On the pre-sales side, I function as a consultant to provide customers with advice and a project plan for achieving their network and security-related goals. On the post-sales side, I become the assigned engineer to actually get the project done!

I spent my workweek at Fortinet as a Technical Account Manager. My primary responsibility was to support my enterprise customers with their FortiGate (Fortinet's NGFW), and a handful of other Fortinet products. In addition to troubleshooting, I also am responsible for bug reproduction and reporting, as well as creating KB articles and training material.

PatchBox, endorsed by the National Psoriasis Foundation, was a subscription box service providing monthly non-prescription relief for psoriasis. My co-founder and I were responsible for all aspects of the business until selling PatchBox via online auction.

On Saturdays, I instructed a software development course on social networking. It was a very rewarding opportunity to work with students, and enabled me to reinforce my technical and leadership skills.

General Motors

June 2013 - Aug 2015

My final position at GM was a Data Center Network Engineer, where my engineering duties revovled around GM's two $150M data centers. I worked primarily with Cisco Nexus equipment, but also worked on other Cisco devices, such as routers and Catalyst switches. 

Before this position, I worked as a Network Operations Engineer in the NOC.

Seminole Electric Cooperative

May 2012 - May 2013

At Seminole Electric, I was a System Operations Intern while completing the last year of my electrical engineering degree. In this position, I was exposed to many aspects of IT due to the daily requirements of this small team.

While at Seminole, I took part in a security audit that held the network accountable to strict NERC CIP requirements. Going beyond networking, I also learned many skills in Windows Server Administration and SCADA systems.

I can't stop learning, and certifications are a fun way to learn new things. I have several certifications from Fortinet, Cisco, and CompTIA, starting all the way back to my CompTIA A+ certification.

Technical Writing

Writing is a creative outlet for me, so I’ve focused that energy into writing several technical contributions throughout my career. It is rewarding when users give you feedback that the article was helpful, and it’s also a great way to sharpen your technical skills!

Amovio was a project that centered around capturing and displaying cell phone location data in order to better understand how employees worked in the office. We presented Amovio in AlphaLab Gear's National Hardware Cup.

VaporTrack, a smartphone-connected electronic cigarette designed for smoking monitoring and cessation. Notable achievements include filing a provisional patent and pitching a 6 minute pitch to the Central Texas Angel Network.

June 2012 - Aug 2013

Pedestal, a smartphone-connected pill box aimed to address patient challenges with medication adherence. This project started as my senior design project in college. I eventually presented Pedestal at the Florida Healthcare Innovation Competition and won a cash prize.
